Coverage of the EXEDY CUP OPTION2 SP Stage Endurance Race.

This round of the EXEDY CUP OPTION2 SP Stage Endurance Race was held on April 16th at the Hyogo prefecture Central Circuit as a charity event to help relieve the victims of March’s devastating earthquake in the Tohoku area of Japan. As cars were putting all they had through the races, many dug deep into there own pockets to put what they had in our donation box that was kept close to the EXEDY Racing Girls.

To show support to the victims of the earthquake, sales of all merchandise sold at the event accompanied the Japan Red Cross donation box that was at the circuit.

Charity event course parade

On the same day as our event, the West Japan Sports Car Charity Meeting also held a fundraiser at Central Circuit. Readers of Option2 gathered 32 cars to take a parade lap around the circuit. It was an especial event to see show cars lapping around the track! The money from the parade lap entry fee was divided in half, giving 50% to the circuit and the other half to be donated to the Japan Red Cross.

With everyone’s support, we were able to donate 138,307 yen! Thank you very much for your help and generosity!

We tried a new layout for our endurance races this round. The S-Endurance race consisted of two-45minute heats. The Freshman and Compact NA classes were 150 minutes long each where throughout all races were saw hard fought battles lap after lap.

Race participants here and there had their share of troubles before and during the race within the pits and on the track. Although some cars could not complete the race, the race finished safely with no call to the safety crew and everyone enjoyed a good day at the track!
